A1JR | System Check
Overview
The A1JR, also known as the Apex Jr., is a discontinued Neptune Systems controller. While this product is no longer actively sold, some units are still in use and may require troubleshooting.
This article covers basic checks for A1JR systems reporting errors, such as:
- AquaBus communication issues
- No connection to Apex Fusion
- Status light concerns
Step 1: Confirm the A1JR is connected to the network
Make sure the A1JR Base Unit is connected directly to your router or network switch using an Ethernet cable.
Check the following:
- The Ethernet cable is fully seated in the A1JR Base Unit.
- The other end of the Ethernet cable is connected to your router or network switch.
- The router or switch port is active.
Step 2: Check the status lights
The status light on Neptune Systems products should normally be green when the device is operating properly.
Check the status light on each Neptune Systems product connected to the system, including:
- A1JR Base Unit
- Any connected expansion modules
- Any connected AquaBus accessories
Record the color and behavior of each status light.
Examples:
- Solid Green
- Flashing Green
- Orange
- Flashing Orange
- Red
No Light
Step 3: Check the Ethernet port lights
Check the Ethernet port on the A1JR Base Unit.
The Ethernet port should normally show activity lights when connected to the network. Depending on the network equipment being used, you may see green and/or orange lights.
If the Ethernet port does not appear to be lit correctly:
- Try a different Ethernet cable.
- Try a different port on your router or network switch.
- Power cycle the router or switch if needed.
Recheck the A1JR Ethernet port lights.
Step 4: Power cycle the system
Unplug power from the A1JR system and any connected Neptune Systems modules.
Wait about 30 seconds, then plug everything back in.
After the system powers back on, check the following again:
- A1JR Base Unit status light
- Expansion module status lights
- Ethernet port lights
- Any error messages shown by the system
Information to collect
After completing the checks above, gather the following information:
- What is the status light color of the A1JR Base Unit?
- Are any expansion modules connected? If yes, what are their status light colors?
- Are the Ethernet port lights active on the A1JR Base Unit?
- Did you try a different Ethernet cable?
- Did you try a different router or switch port?
- Did the status light change after unplugging and reconnecting the system?
- What is the serial number of the A1JR Base Unit?
Notes
Because the A1JR is a discontinued legacy product, available support or repair options may be limited. The steps above are intended to help determine whether the issue may be related to network connection, AquaBus communication, power, or the A1JR Base Unit itself.
